Mr Robot

I’d seen this guy on another blog or two, and just couldn’t resist him when he came up on a local auction. Crazy price, but just had to have him.He stands about 10cm (4 in) tall.

Open up his chest to sharpen your pencil. Sharpening winds his little motor up and then he’s off for a walk. There is also a key to wind him up if you just want to go for a walk without sharpening a pencil.

Rotate his arms up as a pencil rest.Word of warning – the sharpeners wind-up mechanism is likely to mangle the shaft of your pencil, but it does put a good sharp long point on it.

Shavings go into his head. Flip top to empty.

damn. this has got to be one of the most useless products ever. well kinda not useful... it does sharpen pencils.
it is still soooo VERY cool. I don't use wood pencils anymore, but would get one of these in a second if I did.
I knew gunther wouldn't be able to resist one of these, either. :) and look "Must...resist...clicking...order...button..." i was right. mwuashahaha!!!

Germ, you're absolutely right – I fought the 10-year old pencil maniac in me for three days but I lost ;-)

Better be careful - this might be what they call a "gateway sharpener" - leading to more serious sharpeners. ;-)

Yeah, good point. I think I bought a "gateway eraser" and I've struggled ever since. Of course purchasing a gateway pencil is a good thing....

Stephen, thank you for the warning. So really I have to watch out - a long time ago I have bought a gateway mechanical pencil ... ;-) On the other hand it's too late anyway; I'm sure he will make friends with his colleagues from KUM, Dux, M+R, Dahle, Staedtler, Faber-Castell ...
