The Christmas holiday season is fast approaching for me, and a reader has suggested a "What pencil would you chose for Christmas' money no object competition? survey? thing?" Thats seemed like a worthwhile idea, so, if money and availability were no object, what mechanical pencil would you wish for?
Remember, availabilty is not a problem - you can wish for discontinued and vintage items. Just because money is no object, don't feel compelled to go all diamond encrusted solid gold on me, not that there's anything wrong with that, but maybe a 1930 plastic Eversharp would complete your collection, or that MP you had when you first started school?

rotring 600 0.5mm gold version original german edition

I'm trying to track down a Pilot Clicker pencil for my boyf, as he was gutted when his went missing after someone borrowed it years ago. As for me, I'm still trying to find my holy grail... and when I find it, I'm going to label it.
(sorry for the deleted post above). I would want either a Faber Castell Alpha Matic in 0.5mm titanium (!), or an early Rotring 600 with knurled grip, in 0.5mm too; the one with retractable tip! A Faber Castell TK Matic in brushed silver finish would also rock my boat. If money was somehow the object, I would want, at minimum, an early Faber Castell TK-Fine.
If we're talking more recent pencils, I'd want some of those yummy-but-now-discontinued black Ohto Promecha aluminum pencils. It's you know, "and then I woke up"!
The now discontinued Ticonderoga Sensematic with a .5mm lead. You can still buy a modified .7mm, though I liked the old yellow .7mm pencil better. I've never found another pencil that is truly automatic advance, and the erasers were the best, just traditional pencil erasers.
mine isn't be too crazy, but I'd love a Rotring 800 .5mm

Otherwise a Staedtler REG 925 85 - 0.7 mm

Ok seeing as I planted the seed for this thing in Daves tortured mind, I had better admit to desperately needing a Columna Sterling Silver Pencil by Ferrari da Varese, Its tip, together with pencil-lead, will retract and completely disappear into the pen body when the press-button is activated and the pen is simultaneously held upside-down. Its name comes from the unmistakable shape of supports for a Roman temple. Just please don't drop it down the chimminy Santa!

an additional Parker Duofold pencil with silver trip - best pencil I've ever owned - and I have hundreds. I previously lost one, I got a replacement, but now I'm worried about losing this one.

I would LOVE to have a Zebra M-605... new in the package. Maybe not the best pencil there is but its my favorite. I still have mine but I wish I had bought more before it was too late since its a little worn now. At least I still have it though, despite a recent close call; I was at the grocery store crossing off stuff on my shopping list when my husband called and I guess I can't hold a pencil and a phone at the same time because it went sailing, ever so elegantly (that pencil does everything elegantly), through the grate under the refrigerated desserts. Gravity. I was prepared to take all the pies out and disassemble the thing if that's what it would take but thank goodness I managed to avoid looking like a freak and eventually pulled it out with my pinkies.

One I don't have, don't even know exists yet, that has a really good story behind it!
Of those I know exist, the one that I've just not been able to find for years is an Eversharp Skyline in the Executive size, in brown.
pentel rex500 i think it is. capped excalibur 0.5mm.
There are two, no-contest choices: Faber Castell TK-matic; and the Pentel Technomatic, PN3015 which is as smooth or more so than the TK-matic.
A pristine NOS dark green Pentel Kerry 5.
First point on my wish list is that Dave continues this magic blog in 2012.
If not - I have to sell tons of pencils... because he is responsible that I started to collect.

Ooh, this is tough. An early Rotring 600, a Waterman Charleston (if they made the mp in yellow - I'm not sure) or something by Caran d'Ache (my favorite brand) are all possibilities.
But I'll take a 0.9 or 1.1 Lamy 2000 as my final choice. The fact that the 2000s aren't made in those lead sizes isn't going to stop me!
@Xaltotun - I think I've seen Andrey selling some of those black Promechas at ebay.
Not sure but a few more Pentel Kerrys would be on the list; I have a 30+ year old and just got 2 more.
Then maybe a few more early H-1010 Pentel Shakers. I have 1 plus a H-515 and the ony Shaker left in the line I can see is a real come dawn.
Any All-Amerian Autopoint or 2-ended version. Used them, some more than 40+ years old until discovered by my son. Now, I have none and as they are still made, thinking about reordering. The Autopoint has a patented lead holder system that just can not be beat by any mechanical system using a sleeve, fixed orretractible. It is more a lead holder than mechanical pencil.
