This reminds me of an article in Faber-Castell's Topics 2008 about the "Twice" multifunction pen used on the space shuttle (on page 4, see http://www.faber-castell.de/bausteine.net/file/showfile.aspx?downdaid=7781&guid=0edf788c-ffef-4f61-8bfe-395fdfc15877&fd=3 ).
Great link! I was curious to read of the Garland mechanical pencil. I'd never heard of it, but it seems that NASA used it even more commonly than the Scripto and the Fisher Space Pen. Can you tell us anything more about Garland?
Garland were news to me too, so I can't say anything about them.
