Shock Horror

I don't know Samy, but just a little while ago he (or she) posted a comment on this blog, and I think it might just be the most shocking comment I have ever received. It reads:

I recently took the Professional Engineers exam in California administered
by the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES). The
pencil they provide is the infamous BIC Bicmatic Grip Mechanical Pencil. No, you
are not allowed to bring your pencils or erasers for the 8 hour exam, for exam
security reasons. The lead frequently breaks and as you try to erase the lead
advances. Wonderful problem during an 8 hour exam. I think this could rate as
one of the worst pencils in the market. Why they won't charge an additional $10
and provide a decent Pentel is beyond me.

There is so much one could say, but for me the worst point is that it is from an engineers association, somewhere where there should still be some respect for the pencil, that most time-honoured instrument of engineering design. Garrrrr, I need a beer.

I would have told that examiner they could shine my shoes and shove that pencil up their.....nose. What an awful pencil, too.
