A Different Yard-o-Led
A different concept for a yard of lead?

My grandfather had one of those. As I recall, his was actually a pen instead of a pencil. My grandfather was a collector of gadgets of all sorts. He demonstrated measuring road trips with it. When he died, I inherited the pen.
My first thought is how well this could do in Japan with their affinity for western circa 1900 styling as well as efficient utility

That sounds great, and the pencil even seems to look good (as far as this is possible to judge from the scan).
