On the blue plastic model, the threads on the cap are a black plastic material with a slightly different design than the previous white plastic. And they have a odd smell to them, a metallic smell. Around 1982/83 when the jotter pencil with the push button was introduced, Parker were changing their threading to plastic inside the caps and coarser threading on the barrels.
